The Varnam Salon NY is back with more Varnams. This time round we will start with pre-show coffee and pastries so audience members can meet other fellow artists and Vice Versa.
Join us for this round of Varnams with Deepa Mahadevan, Aarthy Sundar, Aparna Shankar and Swathi Jaishankar
Srinidhi Ragavan and Sri Thina Subramaniam bring the Salon to New York as an extension of The Varnam Salon, CA. They hope to extend and encourage the continued practice and presentation of such a pivotal piece and with that build a platform for dancers to not just present but also discuss their work and process with other artists and their viewers.

NAVARATHRI CELEBRATION
Navaratri is celebrated by different states of India in 'unique' ways. The western part of the country celebrates Navaratri with Dandiya or Garba. In the southern region, Navaratri is celebrated with Golu or Bommai Golu, which involves the festive display of dolls. North India observes Navaratri by fasting for nine days while in West Bengal, Navaratri is associated with pandals (marquees) and humongous, expertly crafted idols of Goddess Durga.
Celebrate with evening of performances centered around the theme of Goddesses and Women for they are one and the same. They are our mothers and daughters. They are delicate and fierce. They can be dark and yet illuminate the unseen.
Celebrating Krishna through movement. We all experience love in many different ways, during this time of the year in India, love is celebrated widely in connection with The Blue Lord Krishna.
It was said that, “The essence of the early part of Krishna’s life was that he turned a whole community blissfully mad. With his enchanting looks, his inimitable smile, his flute, and the dance in his step, he drove people into a new kind of frenzy”, with Janmashtami around the corner, we want to experience that essence and frenzy in a night of Devotion and Desire.
